Copper Mountain’s Three Ring Weekend

Published by david at 11:04 am under Events

July 3rd through 5th of 2009 is for the kids at Copper Mountain, with their Three Ring Weekend! Why is it called that? Because it brings together three key elements: Live music, live circus entertainers, and a kids’ eco-friendly 4th of July Parade and festival extravaganza! This free family event is just 80 miles from downtown Denver, less than an hour and a half away. The party features live music, a carnival, a kid-powered parade, fireworks, interactive educational and entertaining activities, and much more! Past headliner bands have included KC and the Sunshine Band, the Village People, Rusted Root, and Justin Roberts and the Not-Ready-For-Naptime Players. This year, it’s Super Diamond, “a Neil Diamond Experience.” In a place like Copper Mountain, it all comes together to form a sure-fire recipe for a hootin’ and hollerin’ fantastic time!

All Kids Activities are 100 percent FREE, and include activities like Oragami classes (using recycled magazines,) Solar S’mores (learning how to use a solar-powered oven and how the sun’s energy can be harnessed for powering our homes,) Hula Hoops, Bean Bag tosses, the Primpt My Ride Parade (kids’ human-powered parade, in which kids decorate bikes skateboards, roller skates, scooters, tricyles or pogo sticks and cruise on down through the village in an earth-friendly 4th of July Parade led by giant puppets! As you can see, these are all about teaching youngsters to be more environmentally aware and how to go Green. Then there’s the Solar Powered Bubble Tower, which generates clouds of thousands of bubbles in an endless variety off shapes, sizes and colors of bubbles with nothing but solar energy. EVERYONE loves bubbles!

The July 3rd schedule includes free music on West Lake, the Recycled Rags dance party with the Flying Saucer DJ and a free movie, The Golden Compass (PG-13) and a fireworks display. The 4th of July celebration kicks off at 10 am with the Conscious Carnival, Giant Mural, and the Reuse, Recycle Rummage Sale , which continues until 7 pm. At four Super Diamond plays on the Burning Stones Plaza’s Solar Stage. Once the sun sets, there’s a fireworks display at the Frisco Lakefront Park and Marina (Take the Summit Stage ’s free (and Green) shuttle to Frisco to attend the display.) Sunday, July 5th starts the Conscious Carnival again at 10 am, this time until 3 pm. Also at 10 am is the Kids’ Primp My Ride decorating, with the parade itself starting at 11 am. At 1 pm, enjoy a free concert for the whole family form the National Repertory Orchestra when they perform Prokofiev’s children’s symphony, “Peter and the Wolf.”

All in all, Copper Mountain’s Three Ring Weekend is an awesome way for both kids and family to enjoy the Fourth of July weekend this year. Make your plans now for this excellent experience!
