Keystone Annual World Music Festival

Published by david at 12:40 pm under Events

Music and cultures of the world will be celebrated once again, this June 27th, 2009, at River Run in Keystone, Colorado. Amongst the regions represented will be the Caribbean, Ireland, Latin America, and the U.S.’s own New Orleans! The festivities, which some call a cultural collision, include live music, an international market, art, and savory cuisine from various countries and regions of the globe. A family affair, the 4th Annual World Music Festival features a new world “marKIDplace” with inflated bounce-houses, kid-age entertainment that educates, and a variety of crafts from several nations. You may even have a chance to win a brand new cruiser-style bicycle, compliments of Nirve, if you visit the bike tent!

The River Run Silvermill Courtyard is the place to be for this international market. You’ll learn about foreign cultures and kids of all ages can play games that come from five different continents! Live music will be provided by Steel Alive (a local band that incorporates the Caribbean steel pan.) Steel Alive will be teaching attendees to play, and you can even show off what you’ve learned before a live audience! Also entertaining is Naturally 7, a group which has played all over the planet for over a milllion people. Naturally 7 opened for Michael Buble in Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and the U.S., and now they’ll be playing for us in Keystone. Paul Borelli will play on June 27th, and Zimbabwe’s Chris Berry and Panjea show off their skills on teh mbira, playing hip-hop African style, incorporating traditional village rhythms and lyrics that talk about one’s ability to change one’s life and destiny. The Merchant’s Tent is open from 9 am until 9 pm. Performances will be scheduled throughout the day, and all of them (and parking) are free to the public! The Festival must insist that pets be left at home, but of course you’re welcome to share the experience with them when you return! Travel the world without ever leaving Keystone at the 5th Annual World Music Festival. For further information, call the Keystone Mountain Concierge at (970) 496-4-FUN!
