The third week of August 2009 is another Keystone River Run celebration that you won’t want to miss! August 22nd and 23, guests will enjoythe 5th Annual Blues Festival and Art Show. When this much sweet artistry comes together, you just know you’re going to have a fantastic time! The Blues ring out through the mountains while you enjoy a classic art show with judging and awards, flavorful foods, smooth icy cool brews and a large sample of wines. Kids can have fun too, at Energy Alley’s bounce-houses!

The art show features 30 artists employing a wide array of media and styles, including jewelery creators Mark Jimenez, Micheline Brierre, Marilynn Quinn, Amy Rickard, Michelle Henzel, John Sartin, Anne Vogt, and Lisa Lischka. Sculptors Carl Wagner and Bear McLaughlin will be exhibiting their works. Dee Ells’ mixed media art will be present, as will painters Rebecca McClive, Daniel Berv, and Dale Daniel.

The photographic genius of Peter Grannis will be represented, as will the stained glass of Dorothy Martinez, Delcia Litt and Daniel and Barbara McKenna. Barbara Moore will share her watercolor, while the Summit County Arts Council presents pieces in watercolor, pastel and oil. John and Barb Burnett and Dorothy Connors will be displaying their pottery, while Clare Pousson shares her works in porcelain. Finally, Ms. Jane Smith will show us how recycled plastic can become art.

Musical entertainment includes Lipbone Redding, who can imitate a trombone with his voice, sing, play guitar write a mean tune! You’re sure to enjoy this former subway musician’s Jazz, Blues, Jam and Soul. Also performing is Tommy Thomas, son of notorious Gospel singers Inetta Johnson Thomas and James Thomas, who brings sweet Blues and Gospel together. Divas of Blues, featuring Sheryl Renee, is a wonderful trio with an amazing songstress at the front. Todd Tijerina combines Funk, Rock and Jazz with Blues that both refresh and inspire. Finally, you’ll enjoy Ricky Earl, the Louisiana Blues man.

The Festival begins at noon each day, with events scheduled until 6 pm. Admission is free, food, wine and beer are ala carte. As always, free parking is available at the River Run lots off of Gondola. For the sake of all guests, pets are not allowed (but you can tell them all about the great time you had when you get back home!)
